Ran a search in Russian. Couldn't find anything.

I don't know of any special or hidden meaning.

Most Russian poetry is a bit on the dark side, though.

That sounds like something she got locally so it really wouldn't have much Russian influence.

The question is, did the Polish girl get you a card, too?

If both the girls got both you guys cards, then it might not mean anything. But if only the Russian girl got you a card it might.

The two girls would have talked about it. And if only one of them got you a card, then the other was probably getting out of the way. One wouldn't want to be outdone, unless there was a little something 'extra' going on.

Might not be much extra, but it's an opportunity.

If you're worried things could get strange, you could show her the card, say spasiba (spa-SEE-ba) and ask if it means she's going to be your anti-crises girl.

If she gives you an opening, there you go. If not, you can pass it off as a joke. If she asks if you'd like her to be... the correct answer would be "yes".

If you don't know the term "anti-crises girl", it's from the song that Svetlana Loboda did for Eurovision last year.

You'd be kind of asking if she's gonna save you and make your world all better.

Lucky for you, the song is in English. Svetlana is from Ukraine.

The song is here:

BTW.

If things go the way you want....

Don't know if the custom is still the same but traditionally you'd always send a Russian woman an odd number of roses. 5,7 or 9.

Nine roses had the same meaning as a dozen, over here.

Don't send a dozen. It was considered bad luck. I think you only sent a dozen when there was a death in the family or some such.

Russians tend toward the superstitious side. Best to avoid that one. If she's too modern to have any knowledge of that sort of thing, tell her you asked around and some idiot on the internet told you this stuff. ( Most western women don't know our codes for them, anymore. Not sure about Russian women in your generation.)

The color codes should be the same. Just stick with red.

Either you'll get brownie points for knowing her traditions. Or you'll get brownie points for the attempt. Image

There's also a Russian Rose breed. Might be a plsu, if you can find them.
