ive had painful knees for over three years, and last year my parents finnaly got serious about it and mentioned it to my doctor, he sent to to a specialist and they told me it was Patello Femoral, thats basically it. he then sent me to physical therapy, they gave me exercises and told me that i couldnt do deep knee bends and had to be excused from gym. i was happy about the no gym part, but ive realized that i dont know what im not supposed to do and what i can do. my knees hurt everyday after school and the exercises arent working.

when i was at the doctors they would only talk to my parents, not to me, they'd ask me questions but they would only speek to my parents.

its almost the end of the school year and our teachers are planning a really fun day for us and we are going to our towns park and doing a bunch of cool "Survivor" like activities and then playing tug-o-war, i dont even know if i can play tug-o-war because of my knee problem, and i told my dad that i dont think i should because it seems to fall into the catagory of things i shouldnt do, but i dont know and when i told my dad he yelled at me and said i should do it anyways and that they wouldnt hurt, and a few weeks ago we went outside onto the track and i told my teacher that i couldnt go onto the track because of my knee problem and she said it was fine, shes my favorite teacher and shes really nice, but one of my frinds was like "come on Kat you cant really be serious about that knee thing" she said it was all in my head, but the pain isnt in my head, its real and sometimes it wakes me up at night.

but i dont know what to do, my dad just wants me to go back to the doctors, but i think the same thing will happen, and i dont know what to do. i tried looking it up online but nothing made sense, can anyone help me?

and k=now my dad is mad at me just because i dont really want to go to some stupid semiformal thing that i already bought a ticket for, im really having a bad day

Your dad cares and that's why he got mad, he does not want you to do something to hurt yourself....

I do believe you should see a doctor, a different one if you are not comfertable with the one you are currently seeing. Health is not a joking matter... and you cannot rely on the internet for things like this as you can never gurantee the integrity of the information....

thanks guys, and i dont think my dad got mad at me for that reason, i think he got mad cuz he thinks my whole knee problem is a joke, i never really know what im supposed to do and what im not supposed to do and when i tell him i dont think i should be doing something he tells me im acting like a wimp

I have weird knees too, they turn inward, so when I walk, my legs 'kick' out sideways...

Your dad is just worried, he doesn't want you to hurt yourself, as for the doctor, he MUST speak to you, not your parents. You are the patient, and he should have asked you to remain in the room.

yeah, i was in the room, he just ignored me. my mom said she was going to look for other doctors today but i dont think she did, and im still having stupid semi formal issues

what is semi formal? is it like a prom?

its a school dance that you have to dress up for, i guess that its like a mini-prom thing, and ive decided that im gunna go give it a try with my best friend and see what its like. the good thing is that i dont have to wear a dress
