Last night, the Gen Art Fresh Faces in Fashion show took place at the Manhattan Center Grand Ballroom. Known for showcasing the best up and coming talents, the collections did not disappoint. Some of the my favorites were Lialia, which showed very feminine designs full of ruffles, flower prints and bright colors, CRHEE, which had some very sexy black open-back pieces, and JF & Son, which the jewelry reminded me of Dries von Noten’s S/S 07 line.
Even better than seeing the next big designers, Shannen Doherty was there to support these rising stars. Back in the limelight since reprising her role on 90210 as Brenda (and making up with Jennie Garth), Doherty is literally one of the hottest celebs out there right now. We caught up with her backstage after the show about her favorites from the show, how it is being back on the set of 90210 and all the thought that went into Brenda’s style (and, just to put an end to the rumors, she is REALLY nice—no joke).
ELLE: Which one was your favorite designer?
Shannen Doherty: Obviously, I really liked CRHEE. I am wearing one of her design. I am wearing another one of her dresses for Regis tomorrow morning.
EL: What other shows are you going to this week?
SD: Well I have to get back to work, back to 90210, but I am thinking about coming back because I love fashion week so much!
EL: How is it to be back on the set of 90210?
SD: It feels great and it’s really fun. Most importantly, it’s a really good cast.
EL: How is the fashion on the show?
SD: “I get really into the wardrobe. I am a fashion whore. I will admit it, I live for it. The costume designer, Deborah, is amazing. You know, when I agreed to play it, I had this discussion with her about where Brenda had been. She had been in London and was this successful theater actress, but she also has spent some time in New York. How do we combine that New York style with somebody from London who is edgy, like Kate Moss? So we have been playing with that and combining the two and I think my clothes are fantastic on the show.
